Rudiments play a vital role in field of drumming. The word ‘Rudiment’ in drumming means basic patterns or building blocks combining which one could create a variety of music.
Most often, I wouldn’t have the presence of mind to deliberate upon the other fills outside the current context or I would not be confident enough to pull them off or even worse it would be some of them that I have neglected for a long time . Today I realized that, no matter how many different fills I learn or practice, I will not be able to apply all of them fluidly unless I touch base with them regularly and practice them in different contexts.
